CBI team reviews investigation in high-profile cases

A team of senior officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation, Delhi, on Wednesday reviewed progress in the investigation of high-profile cases in Andhra Pradesh.

The team which included the CBI Special Director, Mr Vineet Kumar Gupta, and Director (Prosecution), Mr Abdul Aziz, among others, visited the investigating agency's regional office in Koti and reviewed the status of investigation.

Cases pertaining to Emaar Properties, illegal asset case of Kadapa MP Mr Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and illegal mining involving Obulapuram Mining Company were reviewed with Mr Lakshminarayana, Joint Director, CBI, according to official sources.

Mr Vineet Kumar Gupta, who is looking after economic offences in the CBI, had particularly examined various aspects of the probe into the case of Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. Various aspects, including legal issues pertaining to supplementary charge sheet in Mr Reddy's case, were also discussed.

The CBI had already filed a charge sheet in this case last week.
