IIM-B placement begins tomorrow

Over half of the 348 batch receive lateral offers

The final placement process for the IIM-Bangalore batch graduating this summer will begin on Saturday. Over 100 companies will participate in this year's final placement season. Out of the batch of 348 students, 16 have chosen to pursue entrepreneurship, said an IIM-Bangalore press release.

Multiple opportunities

According to Professor P D Jose, Chairperson, Office of Career Development Services, nearly half of the participating students have already received job offers in the lateral placement process. The lateral placement process is for students with minimum of 22 months of full-time work experience. Management consulting firms dominated the lateral placements at IIMB with more than 55 per cent of the offers. Deloitte had a total of 13 acceptances followed by Infosys Consulting at 11.

Other firms that offered consulting positions were Accenture, Ernst & Young, PwC, Virtusa, Cognizant Business Consulting and Wipro.

From the BFSI segment, several banks, private equity firms and a hedge fund participated in the lateral recruitment process, including a Dutch bank, which offered a student an international assignment. YES Bank and Chrys Capital were the largest recruiters in this segment. Close to 15 per cent of the lateral offers were made in the general management sector. The Aditya Birla Group, the Hinduja Group, Philips, Schneider and the Adani Group made multiple lateral offers in this sector. Product management roles were offered by companies such as HCL, Indus Valley Partners, InfoEdge, McAfee, Microsoft and NetApp.
