Tension gripped the Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City (JNPC) at Parawada on Wednesday as the indefinite fast by the Telugu Desam Party State Vice-President, Mr B. Satyanarayana Murthy, entered the third day on Wednesday. Production was suspended at the units in the pharma city, as the agitators did not allow the employees in. There was heavy police deployment at the spot.

Mr Murthy began his indefinite fast on Monday, along with others, demanding the management make arrangements for shifting of the people of Tadi village adjoining the pharma city as life had become unbearable for the residents due to pollution caused by the units. He also wanted compensation and jobs to the fishermen of Mutyalampalem village adversely affected by the pharma city. He wanted a comprehensive revised rehabilitation package for all those affected by the project.
