In a mixed trade pattern, black pepper, ajwain and jeera prices moved up on fresh buying by stockists on pick up in demand, while chirounji and makhana declined on lack of buying support.
Traders said stockists buying to meet the ongoing marriage season demand mainly pushed up black pepper, ajwain and jeera prices. In the national capital, black pepper common rose by Rs 200 to Rs 23,800-24,000 a quintal.
Ajwain also moved up by Rs 500 to Rs 13,000-19,500, while jeera best quality gained Rs 300 to Rs 16,000-16,500 a quintal.
On the other hand, chirounji and makhana fell by Rs 20 and Rs 40 to Rs 430-460 and Rs 240-350 a kg, respectively.
Following are today’s quotations (a quintal): Ajwain 12,000-19,500, black pepper common 23,800-24,000 betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,040-1,050 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,175-1,350.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,100-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,150-1,170, cardamom bold 1,180-1,190, cardamom extra (bold) 1,300-1,320 and cloves (kg) 330-390.
