Volume dips at Coonoor tea sale bl-premium-article-image

The falling trend witnessed in the volume offered for sale at Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions in the last few weeks continues for Sale No 36 to be held on Thursday and Friday. A volume of 15.08 lakh kg has been catalogued marking a decline of 53,000 kg over last week’s offer. Of this, 10.96 lakh kg belongs to leaf grades and 4.12 lakh kg, dust grade. As much as 13.85 lakh kg belongs to CTC variety and only 1.23 lakh kg, orthodox variety. Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped Dust auction and the entire CTC market last week when Jay Kay Enterprises bought it for ₹196 a kg. Darmona Estate came second at ₹186. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the CTC Leaf auction fetching ₹184. In all, 37 marks got ₹125 and more per kg.
