Kolkata-based FMCG major, Emami Group, welcomed the Union Budget 2014 as “inclusive” and “progressive”.

According to RS Agarwal, Joint Chairman, Emami Group, the budget is aimed towards expansion of the economy and looks to develop a future roadmap for growth.

He also welcomed the Government’s plans to reign in fiscal deficit from the existing 4.1 per cent to 3 per cent over the next three years.

“The budget has managed to address many concerns that have been raised frequently in the past by both industry and common people. It has given fillip to sectors like manufacturing, infrastructure, healthcare, defence, education and so on,” he maintained in a release issued by Emami.

According to Agarwal, women empowerment is another aspect that the Government has vowed to take care. “The budget is developmental in nature and sets the tone for strengthening the country’s economic foundation,” he added.
