‘CIL must look for other options to meet FSA target’

Coal India Ltd should look for other options to provide coal if it is unable to meet the fuel supply commitments to power companies.

“If Coal India is not able to meet the supply target as per the Fuel Supply Agreement, they must provide for the coal (through other means),” Planning Commission Member (Energy) B.K. Chaturvedi told reporters here at the ‘Clean Energy Ministerial’.

Gas pricing

On the issue of gas pricing, Chaturvedi said: “We have to take a balanced view as far as gas pricing is concerned.

“Unfortunately in gas, it is a very segmented market and therefore while fixing the prices, we have to take into account these factors and I am sure the Government will do it.”

He added that there is a shortage of gas in India.

“As far as domestic pricing of gas is concerned, though we are able to get LNG, now we have to, while pricing the gas, take into account that more investments come to the sector.

“If you have pricing which is very low, no investments will come and also we have to take into account what the prices in international market are,” he said.
