CITU ‘protest week' in Bengal

Our Bureau Updated - May 27, 2011 at 08:49 PM.

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has expressed concern over the “continuous violence by the Trinamool Congress and Congress on trade unions and other mass organisations” in West Bengal.

In a release issued here on Friday, it alleged that in many places its workers were being forced to leave CITU and join TMC-led trade unions in industries as also taxi and autorickshaw operators and street vendors. It appealed to all trade unions, irrespective of affiliations, to raise their voice against the “violence designed to empower the employers and capitalists” and observe a “campaign-cum-protest week” from June 6 to 11 in the State.
