Kudankulam: Small, tiny units plan protest favouring N-plant

The Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association will hold a protest at Tirunelveli on December 20 in favour of commissioning the Kudankulam nuclear power plant.

Currently, the tiny and small industry sector is severely affected because of the on-going power cut for four-five hours daily in the State. Production by the sector has gone down by 50 per cent.

If the Kudankulam power project became operational 900 mega watt of electricity will become available and it would help ease the power situation.

In order to draw the attention of the State and Central governments over the issue, the association has decided to hold a peaceful protest at Tirunelveli on December 20 and such protests will be held also at Coimbatore, Tiruchi , Madurai, Chennai and other cities in the State, simultaneously on the day, said the sources.
