Cochin Shipyard delivers anchor handling tug vessel to Shipping Corporation

Support platforms to oil rigs: Bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) SCI Kundan, being delivered by Cochin Shipyard Ltd.

Cochin Shipyard Ltd delivered a 120T bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS). The tug named, SCI Kundan, bearing the Hull No BY-78, has been delivered to Shipping Corporation of India, Mumbai. This is the second in the series of four 120T bollard pull AHTS being built by CSL for Shipping Corporation.

The protocol documents of the ship were signed by Capt Devadas, Senior Vice-President (Technical and Offshore Services) for SCI, Mumbai, and Mr P. Vinayakumar, Director (Technical), on behalf of Cochin Shipyard. The function was attended by Commodore K Subramaniam, Chairman and Manaaging Director, CSL, and senior officials from CSL and SCI. The vessel is of AH03 type, designed by STX OSV, Norway (ex- Aker Yards), and is certified under dual class by the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping and the Indian Register of Shipping. It is registered under the Indian flag.

This 65.2 x 16 metre vessel is a high-end anchor handler with a capacity of 120T bollard pull, which is equipped with two 4,000 KW diesel engines and two controlled pitch propeller in Kort nozzles. The vessel is having Grade I Dynamic Positioning feature along with compliance to ERRV class C. The vessel is built to accommodate 29 persons with all the capabilities of a platform supply vessel in addition to the anchor handling facility. These vessels are used as support platforms to rigs/oil platforms.
