The Metropolitan Development Plan 2013 displayed at the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority at Taranaka for public viewing on Friday.

Twelve logistics hubs for trucks and bus terminals and railways will come up as part of the 5,965 sq.km Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Plan 2031.

It is projected that the mega city will have a population of about 1.84 crore by 2031.

The metropolitan plan prepared by Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority along with zoning and development promotion regulations has been sanctioned by the Andhra Pradesh Government.

The Plan, notified by the Municipal Administration and Urban Development, has been displayed at various offices of the metropolitan authority and soft copies of the plan will be released within two weeks.

The plan prepared over the last three years has taken into consideration various suggestions and objections from experts and citizens. As a part of the overall plan, the Government has earmarked about 209 sq.km for industrial use according to suggestions of Andhra Pradesh industrial Infrastructure corporation.

Apart from the mega outer ring road, the plan will incorporate regional ring roads running 287 km with a width of 90 m. In an effort to decongest the city, about 1.5 km of the land bordering urban areas and contiguous with the other ring road has been earmarked to provide connectivity between urbanisable area and rural parts.

In the overall plan, passenger and freight terminal locations have been identified by the South Central Railways.

The plan projects the metropolitan development area to have a population of 1.84 crore by 2031.

The base map of the plan has been prepared using satellite imagery from Cartosat-I, LISS-IV, multi spectral data and village cadastral maps.

The plan outlines areas for residential use, commercial, manufacturing units, public, semi-public utilities, multiple use, recreational zones, water bodies, forest area and reserved areas.

The area initially envisioned in the master plan has been increased from 5018 sq.km to 5,965 km.

It has been prepared with a perspective to enable the Government gear up to challenges to urbanisation and provide necessary infrastructural support such as transportation, water, power among others.
