Air Asia India today unveiled its fourth aircraft, with a livery dedicated to JRD Tata, the pioneer of civil aviation in the Indian sub-continent.
The livery of the aircraft dons an image of JRD Tata with the Puss Moth, the aircraft he flew on October 15, 1932. That historic flight also led to the birth of Tata Airlines and beginning of civil aviation in the region.
The event held at the GMR Aerospace Hanger, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad was attended by Ratan N Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Tony Fernandes, Group, Chief Executive Officer, Air Asia, Mittu Chandilya, CEO, Air Asia India and S Ramadorai, Non-Executive Chairman of Air Asia India.
Talking to newspersons later, Mittu Chandilya said Air Asia India will expand routes and flights in the country soon. It will induct the fifth aircraft in April and the sixth also very soon.
Asked about investments and expansion plans, Tony Fernandes said "Our investment plans will depend on a clarity on policy initiatives of the Government. We are very upbeat on India, the potential, both aviation and tourism related".
