Entire dedicated freight corridor project contract to be awarded in one year

The entire work of dedicated freight corridor project, which has an estimated cost of Rs 81,500 crore, may be awarded in the next one year. This was told to media by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu in a conference here today.

“The freight corridor project has awarded over Rs 15,000 crore worth of projects in the last six months. This more than the value of projects awarded in the last six years,” said Prabhu.

"We will award the entire contract by June 2016. However, actual cost of project to be awarded in the remaining period will be less as the total cost includes land cost and interest during construction cost and project escalation, as well. This was told to Business Line by Adesh Sharma, MD, DFCCIL.

Meanwhile, IRCTC has introduced online train booking options in Hindi.

The new features include wake up calls through SMS alerts 15 minutes before you reach your destination on Duranto and Rajdhani trains that arrive at night.

IRCTC has also launched an unreserved ticketing system app, developed by CRIS. The app has been implemented in suburban railway, Mumbai.
