Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation’s (KSRTC) new bus terminal in Puttur town of Dakshina Kannada district will be inaugurated on Saturday.

KSRTC has gone for PPP (public-private partnership) model to build the bus terminal for the first time in Dakshina Kannada district.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Friday, Mohammed Ibrahim, Managing Director of Hindustan Promoters and Developers Pvt Ltd (private partner in the bus terminal project), said the bus terminal complex, which has come up on an area of 2.4 acre of land in heart of Puttur town, has been completed at a cost of ₹33 crore.

Spread over 1.34 lakh sq ft of area, the KSRTC bus terminal complex includes an administrative block, a bus terminal and a commercial complex.

The bus terminal has provision to accommodate 27 buses at any given point of time. To a query on the return on investment in this PPP project, he said the developer will earn revenue from the commercial complex that is a part of the bus terminal complex.

Ibrahim said State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy will inaugurate the terminal on Saturday.

Puttur town is an important commercial centre in Dakshina Kannada district. The Mangaluru-Mysuru highway passes through the town.
