Maersk's largest vessel lands at Cochin port

Spring R, the longest container vessel to call at Cochin Port, berthed at ICTT Vallarpadam Wednesday 18 May 2011.This vessel of mother ship category has a length of 247 mtrs and capacity to carry 3500 TEUs of containers. The vessel will sail for Port Kelang tomorrow morning after handling about 650 containers at ICTT.

Maersk Line's MV Spring R, which berthed at ICTT on Wednesday, is the largest vessel to call at the terminal so far. This is a 3,500-TEU vessel with LOA of 247 meters. MV Maersk Izmir with LOA of 232 meters was the largest vessel to have berthed at ICTT before MV Spring R.

Spring R is a mainline vessel currently serving in the FW2 service of Maersk Line, between East Africa and Far East, a press release issued here said.

The vessel berthed has 243 TEU Import discharge for Kochi and 287 TEU Trans-shipment to various other South Indian Ports.

It has 300 TEU Export loading from Kochi. The vessel is scheduled to sail tomorrow to Port Kelang.
