Apprehending an early election code of conduct to be announced later this month for the state assembly polls slated later this year, Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation announced to start a “trial run” of Metro train on September 18 inviting criticism from Opposition BJP for rushing the trial.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will flag off the train from Mansarovar Metro station at a special function on September 18, an official spokesman said today.

Chief Minister will also lay a foundation stone for underground corridor for metro from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar on the very day.

The train will pass through Metro stations of New Atish Market and Vivek Vihar, and would come to a halt at the outer area of Shyam Nagar.

After completion of other works at the site, the trial will be extended to Shyam Nagar, Ram Nagar and Civil lines later this year or early next year, quoting JMC’s CMD Nihal Chand the spokesman said.

Meanwhile at a press conference, state BJP President and former CM Vasundhara Raje remarked, “Aap (Gehlot) jaldi kar rahein hain Metro rail ko jhanda dikhane ki...iski delicacy dekhiye... metro bantai vakht accidents aur casualties hui hain. (You are pushing and in hurry to flag of the Metro train coaches on track...Let us review its delicacy..there were a few accidents and casualties“.

“The basic amenities like water, power, roads, and jobs have not reached to public in the Gehlot government’s five year tenure. By flagging off a Jaipur Metro rail, whose trial is proposed on September 18, the Congress government may dazzle public eyes, but Jaipur’s sky line, tourism and heritage would be adversely affected”, she categorically said.
