Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) has said that it has completed the widening of the 136-km Salem-Ulundurpet road in Tamil Nadu.
Built at a cost of Rs 1,061 crore, the project has been executed on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis under the aegis of the National Highways Authority of India.
RInfra will operate and maintain the road for a concession period of 25 years.
The project required major realignment work along with widening the entire stretch from Salem to enable the construction of four lanes.
Commuters can now cover the 136 km stretch in less than two hours, which used to take over four hours earlier, Rinfra said.
All toll plazas are equipped with automated toll system to cut down the stopover time.
Cars will have to pay Rs 43, light commercial vehicles Rs 76 and buses and trucks Rs 152 for a single journey.
Commuters residing within 10 and 20 km radius of the toll plazas can buy monthly passes at Rs 150 and Rs 300, respectively.
