US co Belkin may set up warehousing unit in India

PTI Updated - November 30, 2011 at 04:23 PM.

US-based firm Belkin has said that it may set up a warehousing facility in India depending on the launch of Goods and Services Tax in the country.

“Yes, India is a big market for us... we may set up... but that depends upon the roll-out of GST...”, Belkin India Managing Director, Mr Mohit Anand, told reporters here today.

GST, a new indirect taxes regime that will subsume various state and central levies, is expected to be rolled out in India early next year.

Mr Anand said GST will help the company on the larger perspective, with uniform fee collection. He, however, did not rule out the possibility that it may even look at Singapore for setting up the warehouse if GST was not rolled out in India next year.

The US-based company has two warehouse facilities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr Anand, who was here to unveil the firm’s new product range of keyboards and mouse, said the company aims to generate Rs 250-crore revenue in September 2012 compared to the previous figure of Rs 150 crore.

On future plans, he said the company aims to generate revenue of Rs 1,000 crore over the next three years.

The wire and wireless mouse range that was launched today is available between Rs 429 and Rs 1,199, keyboard at Rs 569 and combo package ranging from Rs 869 to Rs 2,629.
