Maharashtra builders laud approval for 78 skyscrapers

The Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (MCHI) lauded Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the state high-rise committee’s decision to approve proposals for building 78 skyscrapers.

Skyscrapers are buildings above 70 metre tall.

Mr Paras Gundecha, President, MCHI, said this step, taken jointly, was in the right direction.

However, MCHI was disappointed that the committee did not find favour with the proposal of building high-rises on small plots.

It is common knowledge that Mumbai faces enormous space constraint.

People from all over the country come to the city in search of livelihood and it was very difficult to provide housing facilities for all.

MCHI believes the city has exhausted its horizontal limits.

In such a scenario, building high-rises on all plots, big and small, is the only option, he said.
