Nabard approves Rs 75-cr project for Haryana

The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has approved a Rs 75.31-crore project for construction of girls' toilets in Haryana schools under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF).

This was informed in the meeting presided over by the Haryana Chief Secretary, Ms Urvashi Gulati, to review the projects funded by Nabard under RIDF here today, an official release said.

On the other hand, another project of Rs 159.73 crore for infrastructure development concerning irrigation department has been recommended for Nabard's approval.

Ms Gulati has directed the departments concerned, along with the finance department to expedite the process of prioritisation of projects to enable Nabard to place the proposal for sanction under RIDF.

The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary Finance, Mr Ajit Mohan Sharan, said two more projects under consideration for prioritisation are the Rs 33.30-crore Animal Husbandry and Dairying Department project and the Rs 20-crore Haryana Agro Industries Corporation project.

It was informed in the meeting that there is a provision of Rs 256 crore for implementation of Nabard funded RIDF projects in 2011-12, which include Rs 125 crore for irrigation, Rs 70 crore for roads and bridges, Rs 35 crore for public health engineering, Rs 10 crore for animal husbandry and dairying and Rs 16 crore for women and child development department.

An expenditure of Rs 102.19 crore had been incurred up to December 31, 2011 during the financial year 2011-12.
