Plea to provide life saving drugs and injections to poor at affordable price

The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made an appeal to the Union Ministry of Health to provide life saving drugs and injections to the poor at an affordable price.

In a letter addressed to the Union Minister for Health, Mr.P.T.K.A.Balasubramanian, Secretary of the chamber, referring to the number of concessions announced in the Pharmaceutical policy for the benefit of the poor, pointed out that many medicines are coming out from the pharmaceutical companies in same formula and combination, but the rates are different. Many cancer medicines are costly and needs to be lowered. In the critical stage of heart attack, an injection used by doctors cost from Rs. 200 to 4000.

He urged for inventing a new medicine for eradication of diabetes from the country as has been done in the case of polio.
