The US has to adhere to the WTO commitments and recognise India's talent, as there is shortage of highly skilled work force, said the Union Commerce and Industry Minister, Mr Anand Sharma.

“H1B visa issue with the US has been raised more than one occasion. I have written to the US Trade Representative twice,” he said while addressing reporters here.

“I am visiting the US at the end of the month for bilateral talks, we will definitely raise it once again and it is high on our agenda,” Mr Sharma said. “They should stop all their restrictive practises. We are against any restrictive practises in any form of discrimination,” he added .

Referring to the global economic recovery and the need for greater cooperation among the nations he said it should be for improvement and not regressive.

CII meet

Earlier, the Minister held an interactive dialogue with the members of the CII Southern region and representatives of IT companies to get a first-hand report of H1B visa problems.
