A nine-member panel of experts and independent engineering consultancy Louis Berger have begun to supervise the implementation of the Rs 16,375-crore Hyderabad metro rail project.
The Louis Berger team headed by Mr John Carrington and technical experts visited the Uppal depot and casting yards and Nagole-Mettuguda stretch along with the representatives of L&T.
L&T is the concessionaire for the project implementing the rail network in Hyderabad.
The panel of technical experts include Mr C.B.K. Rao, who was instrumental for civil structure construction at Delhi Metro as Director of Civil Engineering, Mr G.P. Garg, who retired as the Chief Commissioner of Railways Safety, Mr S.P. Iyer, who retired as principal chief engineer of Indian Railways, and Mr. V.S.Raju, retired director of IIT Delhi, among others.
During their visit to the project site last week, they verified the detailed technical specifications, designs and drawings and the construction work now underway.
The Managing Director of Hyderabad metro rail, Mr N.V.S.Reddy, held a review meeting along with the L&T Construction wing and Louis Berger team and the panel of experts. The focus was on quality control measures and the need to adopt stringent measures.
Meanwhile L&T has begun construction of piers in one of the three stretches where the metro rail project is coming up. It is proposed to develop a stretch of 72 km along three busy city traffic corridors.
