TNERC to conduct public hearings on tariff revision

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) will conduct public hearings on the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board's petition to revise electricity tariffs.

The commission has said that the public can make their representation on this issue before it.

The TNERC has said in regard to taking decision on the petitions, the Commission announces the programme of public hearing.

Those who are interested may make it convenient to appear before the Commission on these dates at the nearest venue and present their case.

Time schedules

The persons may register their names at the venue between 9.30am and 11.00 am of the hearing dates. The hearing will go on from 10.30 am to 5.00 pm in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchi and Madurai.

In Chennai, the public hearing is to be conducted on January 30 at the Chennai Tamil Isai Sangam, Raja Annamalai Mandram; at Coimbatore on February 2 at the Coimbatore Corporation Kalaiarangam; at Tiruchi on February 6 at the Tiruchirappalli Barbier Hall (Jubilee Building), St. Joseph's College; and at Madurai on February 10 at the Madurai Indian Medical Association Hall, Medical College Premises.

Tariff revision

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Corporation Ltd (TANGEDCO) and Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd (TANTRANSCO) have filed application before the Commission for preliminary true-up and approval of Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) for 2010-11 and approval of ARR for 2011-12 and 2012-13 under Multi Year Tariff and also applied for tariff revision with effect from April 1, 2012 or earlier.

The TNERC has announced that the above petitions were admitted by the Commission and registered as TP 1 of 2011 and TP 2 of 2011 respectively.

The salient details with regard to the petition were published in leading news papers on December 2, 2011.
