As it crosses 25-million mark in user base and completes one year of its development activity in India, it is time for expansion for Facebook. It is going to increase its office space by five times.

The company, which started its development work at 22,000 sq ft and 100 employees, has recently leased one lakh sq ft of additional space in the adjoining building at Raheja Mindspace at Madhapur, according to a senior Government official.

The company had committed to recruit more at its facility, with positions available in user operations, sales operations and finance, he said.

First anniversary

To mark first anniversary of Facebook in Hyderabad, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, and Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, Minister for IT and Communication, visited the social networking site's facility.

They had asked the company to consider expanding its operations to tier-II cities in the State and assured support from the Government in this regard.
