Thirteen Indian students have made it to the regional finalists’ list of Google Science Fair. The list comprises 90 students from across the globe.

The annual online fair calls for innovative project ideas from students in the age group of 13-18 (three categories). Several students of Indian origin too are in the list.

“All you need is an idea. Geniuses are not always A-grade students. We welcome all mavericks, square-pegs and everybody who likes to ask questions,’’ Google had said, while inviting applications.

A panel of teachers and university professors picked the 90 projects from a few thousand project ideas Google received from 100 countries.

On June 6, Google will announce 15 finalists and the winner of the Science in Action prize. A winner will be selected from each of the age categories: 13-14, 15-16, 17-18.

The 15 finalists will be flown to California (the US) on July 23 for the award presentation ceremony.
