After notching up good growth courtesy its strong employee force, Infotech Enterprises, the largest IT and engineering services company, has decided to take more care of its workforce, with an eye to soar higher.

The Rs 1,180-crore (2010-11) company has tied up with Health Awareness Promotion Project India (HAPPI), to create more awareness in their workforce on health issues. The focus is on non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The result is the launch of a corporate wellness initiative. It will be extended to the 5500 strong workforce of the company in Hyderabad. “Health of our associates is a key priority for Infotech. In the past we have been consistently doing free health check up to all employees through structure programmes”, said Mr B. Ashok Reddy, President – Global Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.

HAPPI is a Hyderabad-based voluntary project of the Prevent NCD Foundation consisting of noted cardiologists, entrepreneurs and fitness management experts. The project came into being after they came across data according to which young, urban professionals have been proven to be highly vulnerable to NCDs.

“The health awareness campaign for the associates of Infotech will comprise formation of wellness committees in the corporate to run the program internally, introductory lectures, presentation on NCDs, voluntary risk assessment. They then record this information on a confidential online risk assessment. There are no invasive procedures,” said Dr B. Ramesh Babu, founder of Prevent NCD Foundation and Managing Director of Medwin Hospital.

The team of Prevent NCD Foundation is enthused by the responses received from ADP where 750 employees took the risk assessment questionnaire.
