Information technology (IT) industry body Nasscom on Monday said that it has received about 1,000 applications from early and growth stage start-ups.

This is part of Nasscom’s 10,000 Start-ups programme. The programme has been supported by major IT companies such as Google, Kotak, Microsoft and Verisign, and Zinnov as the consulting partner.

The association would be nominating the best application received before November 30 for a sponsored Blackbox Connect Programme — a two-week Silicon Valley immersion programme for non-US start-up founders in March, it said.

Through the applications received for 10,000 Start-ups by December 10, Nasscom would also shortlist 10 early-stage companies for on-the-spot seed funding event next month in Mumbai, it said.

“One remarkable trend that we are noticing this time is the significant surge in the number of applications with prototypes which demonstrates not only their ideas but also the intent to pursue the ideas further,” Rajat Tandon, Senior Director, Nasscom 10,000 Start-ups, said.
