Nokia India has received $500,000 initial funding to kick-start its ‘Appcelerate-India’, a programme launched to foster mobile applications and nurture mobile start-ups.
The investment is from the collaborators of the programme - Finland-based AppCampus and members of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels (India Chapter). ‘Appcelerate-India’, a programme to boost mobile application development on Nokia Lumia and Windows platform, was launched in Bangalore today.
Nokia and Microsoft have invested a total of €18 million to form AppCampus, a mobile application accelerator programme managed by Aalto University in Espoo, Finland. AppCampus is aimed at fostering mobile app development on Windows Phone.
AppCampus and members of Harvard Business School Alumni Angels (India Chapter) would also provide a combination of grants, seed funding, mentoring and incubation resources, the company said in a statement.
