With its ‘I Have Space’ initiative, the e-commerce giant wants to partner with small-time grocery shop owners to improve its delivery network.

Amazon is eyeing the markets in tier-II and tier-III cities and in rural areas and is also tying up with kirana shops to use their network to deliver goods.

Subbu Palaniappan, Amazon India Head-Prime Member Growth & Engagement, told reporters here that under the ‘I Have Space’ initiative, the company is penetrating into rural segments by partnering with small-time grocery shop operators.

Stating that Amazon had over 8,500 sellers in Andhra Pradesh, 1,700 of whom were located in Visakhapatnam, he said that one-third of their clients in India were Amazon Prime members, availing a bouquet of entertainment services on the small screen along with hassle-free shopping experience with additional discount offers.

He said that Andhra Pradesh was a very important state for Amazon.in as it had continued to invest significantly to improve the network.

Palaniappan said the Prime membership around the world had crossed over 100 million.
