Wearable technology company GOQii has entered into an agreement with Microsoft to bundle its fitness band with the purchase of three Lumia models. The company is offering a free GOQii band and a three-month subscription plan worth Rs 3,999 along with new Lumia 830, Lumia 930 and Lumia 1320 devices.

Under the scheme, which is available across branded retail stores in Mumbai, Pune and Ahmedabad, GOQii also provides a personal physical trainer (coach).

“We are looking at disrupting the entire health and fitness sector in the country. With these wearables, we are looking at making our users eat more vegetables, drinking more water and doing more exercises,” said GOQii Chief Executive Officer and Founder Vishal Gondal.

The company’s wearables record the data of a person’s workout, pulse rate, distance walked or run and calories he burn. This data is used by the coaches to train the users, he added.

At present, GOQii has about 100 coaches, which would be increased to 1,000 by mid next year, providing training to 1000s of users.

“Personal fitness is the mantra for consumers these days with a lot of focus being given to wearables. We recognise this as a rapidly evolving segment and are committed to bring the best innovations and services to our consumers,” said Navdeep Manaktala, Head-Developer Experience, Nokia India Sales Pvt Ltd (a subsidiary of Microsoft Mobile Oy).

Each GOQii user is assigned a personal coach based on health, fitness and lifestyle goals.
