Hinduja Global to hire 3,000 this year

Business process outsourcing firm Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS) Ltd said the company will hire 2,000-3,000 people this financial year. The company hired similar number of people last year.

Not impacted by the global economic scenario, HGS also plans to start new operations in Jamaica, Columbia and West Asia in the near future, Mr Partha De Sarkar, Chief Executive Officer, HGS, said.

“We will provide services to one of the largest banks in Jamaica with 50 people by end of this month. We will also start operations in Columbia and West Asia as we are winning new clients there,” he said.

He said the Jamaican centre would also operate as a near-shore (servicing clients from nearby country) option to for some of the clients in the US and Canada.

Time is turning back for the BPO industry and HGS is getting successful businesses from public sectors and retailers in the UK and consumer electronic companies in Canada, Mr Sarkar said.

He said companies around the world are cutting cost on capital expenditures and invest in operations through outsourcing. Therefore, companies like HGS are gaining businesses through such clients.

Mr Sarkar said in India the company has grown in terms of revenues by 35 per cent last year and has been maintaining it. The company is also serving clients in Tier-II and III cities in telecom, healthcare insurance, pharmaceuticals and media verticals.

The company has around 24,000 employees now in 51 centres across 11 countries including India, the US, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy.

It has the maximum number of employees in India with 15,128 headcounts, followed by the Philippines with 3,382, and Canada with 2,261 .

Capability Level 4 certification

Meanwhile, the company has also won Capability Level 4 certification of eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers (eSCM-SP). HGS sites across India, the Philippines, and the US, achieved the certification.

The certification is a norm to service clients in a similar manner from every centre. It is just like coffee of Café Coffee Day that tastes same everywhere in the world.

HGS is the third company to win such certification from India. Infosys BPO and IBM Global have won similar certifications (Level 5) in 2011 and 2010 respectively.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 345.35 on the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday, a decline of 1.88 per cent from its previous close.
