Internet firm Info Edge (India) has reported a marginal rise in profit-after-tax at Rs 30.8 crore during the three months ended December 31, 2012.

The company, which owns many Web portals including Naukri.com, had a profit-after-tax of Rs 28.85 crore in the corresponding quarter ended December 31, 2011.

During the quarter, net sales climbed to Rs 106.4 crore from Rs 92 crore in the year-ago period, Info Edge said in a statement.

“The key business of recruitment continues to decelerate in line with weak economic indicators. While other businesses have growth, they are not as significant and do not contribute to the total bottomline,” Info Edge CFO and Director Ambarish Raghuvanshi said.

According to him, the company has continued to make discretionary investment in businesses, including in recruitment, leading to erosion in margins.

“During the (December 2012) quarter, revenue from recruitment solutions grew at 10.1 per cent while the real estate vertical grew by 54.6 per cent,” the statement said.

Info Edge also owns other Web sites such as 99acres.com, Jeevansathi.com and Shiksha.com.
