PC maker Lenovo plans to almost treble the number of its exclusive stores by current year-end, a top company official has said.

The company plans to increase the number of Lenovo Exclusive stores (LES) and LES Lite's to 1,000 from 370 currently, Mr Amar Babu, Managing Director of Lenovo India, told newspersons, here on Monday.

This is a part of the company's strategy to penetrate tier-3 and -4 cities in the country.

According to a projection by IDC India, India's PC market is estimated to grow 22 per cent in 2011, with a substantial part of this demand expected to come from smaller cities.

Separately, Lenovo today launched the ThinkPad X1, which it claims is the thinnest notebook in the industry. It has a battery life of 10 hours and can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes, it said.

ThinkPad X1 measures 16.5mm, weighs 1.72kg and is equipped with a 2.5GHz processor, the statement said.
