Microsoft revamps its So.cl social network

Microsoft has revamped its social network, So.cl, with a host of new functions designed to make it easier to create and embed photos and turn them into collages.

Dubbed the social network for creatives by the company, it allows users to swap interesting images and photos they find online. Two new functions — Pictotale and Blink — make it easier for users to search for photos and images or manipulate and share them.

Microsoft staff said users had been enjoying the functions that allowed them to swap photos, but had noticed that people wanted more options to tinker with the photos and then share their own creations.

With that in mind, there are a series of other functions to allow people to more easily share content.

The website started one and a half years ago as a platform for swapping web content. Initially tested as a service only for US university students, it is now open to the general public.
