Aznog, a mobile tech company based in the UK, has received an angel investment from Indian Angels Network (IAN).

IAN did not disclose the sum invested but said that this is in line with its constant efforts to encourage new age innovation and entrepreneurship across geographies, IAN continues to invest in disruptive technologies in regions like UK.

The Aznog mobile app allows its users to make unlimited free phone calls directly to mobile phones or landline numbers anywhere in the world without any payments or credits. In this case, only the calling party should have an Aznog app and Internet on their device. The recipient does not require an app or any Internet facility. Currently, the app is available only on Android.

With this investment, the startup wants to take this service to North and Latin America. “We are present in the UK and Germany but with this round of funding, we can grow in the above mentioned markets,” said Amogh Meshram, CEO and Founder of Aznog. “Aznog is a globally scalable product and has created value in the mobile and telecom space by revolutionising the sector in the countries that it is present and it’s changing the way people make calls, said Harsh Hada, one of the lead IAN investors.

Industry watchers point out there is a significant amount of disruption waiting to happen in the telecom industry, similar to the ones witnessed in the publica transportation sector with the entry of Uber and in the hospitality industry with entrants like Airbnb.
