Nasscom eyes smaller towns in Telangana

The Nasscom is planning to set its eyes beyond Hyderabad to establish their bases. Some of the major BPOs are looking at tier-II and tier-III cities such as Warangal and Karimnagar.

The IT industry association has held its Executive Council meeting here on Thursday. To mark the event, it invited the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to discuss the IT development roadmaps for the respective States.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao told the Nasscom leaders that the State would come out with a dedicated IT Policy as well as an Industry Policy.

“We will be holding a workshop and a closed-door meeting with the Nasscom representatives to get their feedback on the IT roadmap for the State. We would like to know what the industry is expecting from the Government to make it the top destination for IT industry,” IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao said.

Addressing a press conference, he said that the State would do all help to let the companies to expand to towns.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Government is going to kick start the work for the IT incubation centre in Visakhapatnam later this week. To be taken up in association with the Nasscom, the centre would have a built-up space of 20,000 sq ft.

It would also finalise a project to replicate Kerala’s Start-up Village model. The State Government would take the help of the Kerala firm to implement the project.
