PSG College of Tech, Nokia Systems ink research agreement

The PSG College of Technology has signed a research agreement with Nokia Systems, Bangalore, on ‘Big Data Analytics’.

The agreement is aimed at doing collaborative research on the cloud and big data analytics with Nokia; help researchers gain knowledge in the techniques and tools used in big data analytics, grid and cloud computing.

‘The University is planning to introduce ‘Personalised Information Retrieval’ as a course in research work. This agreement will foster the use of free and open source software and improve industry-institute collaboration,’ Dr R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSGCT, said.

A research centre — PSG – Nokia Big Data Analytics Centre — was inaugurated for carrying out the collaborative research.

Mr K. Chidambaran Kollengode, Director (Cloud and Big Data Analytics Group) at Nokia Research said the collaboration was a consequence of the research carried out on Hadoop and other grid and cloud platforms in the institution.

Some of the planned areas of research include personalisation in recommender systems, location awareness and machine learning approaches in cloud environment.
