TCS to set up facility in Nagpur

IT bellwether Tata Consultancy Services is investing Rs 600 crore in the first phase of its software development facility in Nagpur.

It will come up on a 54-acre site in the Mihan SEZ. The Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Prithviraj Chavan, laid the foundation for the first phase of the project at Nagpur today.

The project would be executed in two phases with the first phase having 8,200 seats for IT and BPO services. The second phase would be equal in size.

Mr N. Chandrasekaran, CEO and MD, TCS, said Nagpur, which is TCS’ third facility in Maharashtra after Mumbai and Pune, had the potential to become the next big hub for knowledge-based industries since it has the strong eco system of educational institutions, talent pool and infrastructure.
