As it eyes increased revenues from data usage next year, Vodafone has invested Rs 150 crore during 2014-15 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to strengthen its network. The telecom firm has added over 1,300 new sites during the year, taking the total coverage to 12,650 towns and villages in the two States.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Rohit Tandon, Business Head (AP and Telangana) said that the growth rate in data consumption and subsequent contribution from this value-added service had gone up significantly.

“Data revenue is growing at a rate of 60 per cent, contributing about 11 per cent to the total service revenues,” he said.

He, however, has not divulged the absolute contribution to revenues from the data segment.

The firm has about 9,500 2G sites in the two States, covering 95 per cent of the population.
