New arrivals, slack buying pound tur

Weak demand and slack buying support have dragged tur prices in Indore mandis by about Rs 250 a quintal in the past one week, while in the past fortnight, it has declined by over Rs 400 a quintal. Beside slack demand, arrival of new tur in mandis across Karnatakka and Maharashtra has also affected buying sentiment in tur leading to sharp fall in its prices in the past few days, said a trader Mr Babulal Khandelwal.

In the past two days alone tur (Maharashtra) on account of weak demand and buying support has declined by Rs 150 to Rs 3750 a quintal, while tur (Madhya Pradesh) declined to Rs 3000-Rs 3100. Tur prices are expected to go down further. once arrival of new tur from Maharashtra hits local mandis within 10 days, said a trader talking to the Business Line.

On the other hand, notwithstanding decline in tur prices, tur dal has by and large remained unchanged in the past one week with tur dal (full) in local mandis currently ruling at Rs 5800-Rs 5900 a quintal, tur dal (sawa no.) at Rs 5400-Rs 5500, while tur marka is ruling at Rs 6700-Rs 6800 a quintal.

Moong, urad and its dal ruled stable amid subdued demand and slack buying support. Moong (best quality) ruled at Rs 5100-Rs 5200 a quintal, while moong (medium) ruled at Rs 4500-Rs 4800 a quintal. Similarly moong dal ruled stable with moong dal (medium) on Tuesday being quoted at Rs 5400-Rs 5500, moong dal (bold) at Rs 7000, while moong mongar ruled at Rs 7100-Rs 7200.

Urad and its dal also remained unchanged even as demand in pulses continued to remain slack. Urad (best) ruled flat at Rs 3400-Rs 3450, while urad (medium) also ruled steady at Rs 3000 a quintal.
