Because of the lack of fresh buying interest from the retailers and millers and sense of panic gripping the traders amidst sluggish demands, pulses crashed in Indore mandis by Rs 200-500 in the past two days. With trading for marriage season reaching its saturation, trading across counters has declined, more so because of selling pressure from the millers.
In the spot, masoor also declined by Rs 75-100 at Rs 3,500-3,625 a quintal, while masoor dal (bold) quoted at Rs 4,400-4,425. Masoor dal (medium) quoted at Rs 4,300-Rs 4,325, while masoor dal (average) quoted at Rs 4,200 a quintal. On Tuesday, urad however, remained steady at Rs 4,200-4,300 a quintal, though urad dal registered a decline of Rs 100. In the spot, urad dal (chilka) quoted at Rs 5,200-Rs 5,300, urad dal (bold) quoted at Rs 6,300, while urad mongar quoted at Rs 7,200-7,400 a quintal respectively.
Chana also declined by Rs 25, more so because of decline in chana futures on the NCEDX whose February contract edged lower at Rs 2,669 a quintal. Chana dal also declined by Rs 50 with chana dal (bold) quoted at Rs 3,250 a quintal, chana dal (medium) quoted at Rs 3,150 and chana dal (average) quoted at Rs 2,950 a quintal respectively.
Among the pulses, tur and its dal recorded maximum fall as the arrival in Indore mandis started gaining momentum with better weather. In the past two days, tur prices declined by Rs 500 at Rs 4,350-4,450 a quintal. Similarly, tur dal (marka) also recorded steep fall in prices. In the past two days, prices slipped from Rs 7,400 to Rs 6,800 a quintal, down Rs 600. So have the prices of its other varieties with tur dal (full) quoting down by Rs 500, at Rs 6300 and tur dal (sawa no.) quoting Rs 300 down at Rs 5,000 a quintal respectively.
Decline in demand also dragged moong prices lower by Rs 500 at Rs 5,000-5,200 a quintal in the past two days. Declining trend in pulses continued for the second consecutive day with moong dal (chilka) quoting Rs 100 down at Rs 5,900-6,000, moong dal (bold) at Rs 6,300 and moong at Rs 6,800-6,900 a quintal.
