Coriander prices have been mixed in the last fortnight and have almost remained unchanged at Rs 3,300 a quintal at Kota APMC in Rajasthan. Arrivals have been increasing steadily.

On Friday, coriander futures hit the upper circuit on fears of damage to the standing crop from rains last month and speculators enlarging their positions. Strong demand in the spot market amid thin supplies also boosted the counter.

On the NCDEX, the spice for October delivery gained 4.02 per cent to Rs 4,163 while November contracts gained 4 per cent at Rs 4,371. December futures were quoted Rs 4,546 a quintal.

Increased buying after rise in spot demand amid limited arrivals from Rajasthan – the largest grower –further boosted the commodity. Coriander arrivals in Rajasthan were 9,000 bags (of 40 kg each) down from 22,000 bags last week.

However, low export demand is likely to cap the uptrend in prices.

In the spot market at Kota (Rajasthan), the spice was quoted at Rs 4,221.5 a quintal.
