Crude oil futures down at Rs 6,252 per barrel

Crude oil futures prices today fell 0.14 per cent to Rs 6,252 per barrel, as speculators trimmed their positions amid a mixed trend in the Asian trade.

Trading sentiment turned weak at the futures trade in line with a mixed trend in Asian trade as investors focused on a fall in US crude inventories, indicating robust demand in the world’s top consumer, marketmen said.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in January shed Rs 9 or 0.14 per cent to Rs 6,252 per barrel in 1,557 lots. Similarly, the oil for February delivery moved down by Rs 8 or 0.13 per cent to Rs 6,296 per barrel in 26 lots.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in February shed 10 cents to $100.22 a barrel, while Brent North Sea crude for February delivery gained 18 cents to $112.36 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
