Mentha oil futures down on profit-taking

Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 16.20 to Rs 852 per kg at the futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing levels, driven by a fall in demand at the spot market.

Adequate stocks availability following increased arrivals from the producing belts also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July fell by Rs 16.20 or 1.87 per cent to Rs 852 per kg with a business volume of 54 lots. Similarly, May contract lost Rs 16.20 or 1.8 per cent to Rs 882 per kg in 216 lots.

Traders said profit-booking by speculators due to a fall in demand at the spot market mainly pulled down mentha oil futures prices.
