Mustard oil, seed flat on subdued offtake

Mustard oil and seeds in mandis across Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat ruled flat on scattered buying support with its price in Indore manids being quoted at Rs 632 for 10 kg, while it was Rs 625 in Neemuch and Rs 630 in Moorena respectively.

Similarly in Rajasthan and Gujarat mandis also, mustgard oil is ruling stable with its price in Kota being quoted at Rs 635, while it was Rs 640 in Ganga Nagar and Rs 650 in Jaipur.

In Gujarat also, mustard oil remained steady at Rs 630 for 10 kg.

Besides, heavy rains in the State continuing for the past one week and weak demand in soyabean and soya oil have also buying sentiment in mustard and its oil.

Even as arrival of mustard seeds across the country continues to be on the lower side, mustard seeds in the past one week have witnessed a sharp decline with is price in Indore mandis on Thursday being quoted at Rs 4,100-4,200 a quintal (down Rs 150 from last week).

On the other hand, raida remained stable at Rs 3,100.

Plant deliveries of mustard seeds for Jaipur on Thursday gained marginally to Rs 3,490-95 (up Rs 30-35 from last week).

Rise in plant deliveries of mustard seeds is primarily due to improved demand from crushers.

Mustard seeds futures also traded lower on weak buying support with its July and August contracts on the NCDEX closing at Rs 3,421 (down Rs 13) and Rs 3,475 (down Rs 16).

Arrival of mustard seeds across the country on Thursday declined to 1.25 lakh bags (1.45 lakh bags last week) with Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab/Haryana recording an arrival of 10,000 bags each, Rajasthan – 75,000 bags, Gujarat – 7,000, while 13,000 bags were offloaded in the remaining parts of the country.
