Pulses and pulse seeds witnessed mixed trend with chana and masoor showing an uptrend on improved demand, while tur, urad and moong witnessing a decline on slack buying support. On the back of improved demand, chana (kanta) gained marginally at Rs 3,200 a quintal, while on the NCDEX chana ruled at Rs 3,250 a quintal. Similarly chana (desi) ruled at Rs 3,100-3,150. Arrival of chana in local mandis was recorded at around 1,500 bags. Rise in spot chana also perked up chana dal with chana dal (bold) being quoted at Rs 4,025-4,050, chana dal (medium) at Rs 3,925-3,950 and chana dal (average) ruled at Rs 3,800-3,825.
Masoor also gained on improved buying support with masoor (bold) in the spot ruling at Rs 2,925-50 against Rs 2,900 on Monday. Similarly masoor (medium) ruled at Rs 2,600. Masoor dal however, ruled flat on subdued demand with massor dal (bold) ruling at Rs 3,500-3,525, masoor dal (medium) at Rs 3,400-3,425 and masoor dal (average) at Rs 3,325-50 a quintal.
Poor demand dragged tur by Rs 50-75 with tur (Maharashtra) in the spot being quoted at Rs 3,200 against Rs 3,250-3,300 a quintal on Monday, while tur (Nimari) ruled flat at Rs 2,300-2,600. Tur dal on the other gained on improved buying support with tur marka ruling at Rs 6,100, tur dal (full) at Rs 5,350-5,400 and tur dal (sawa no.) at Rs 4,300-4,350 a quintal.
Urad also witnessed sluggish trend on weak queries with urad (bold) being quoted Rs 100 down at Rs 4,100-4,200, while urad (medium) ruled at Rs 3,600-3,800. Urad dal, on the other hand, ruled steady with urad monger ruling at Rs 6,700-6,900, urad dal (bold) at Rs 5,700-5,750 and urad dal (average) at Rs 4,750-4,800 a quintal.
Moong (old) ruled firm at Rs 4,000-4,200, while moong (new) crashed by Rs 300 a quintal on increased arrival with about 600 bags of Nimari moong being offloaded in local mandis. In the spot moong (new) declined to Rs 4,500-4,600 against Rs 4,900 on Monday
Dollar chana or chickpea also declined on weak domestic demand with its prices in the local mandis being quoted at Rs 7,900-8,200 a quintal, down Rs 200. Arrival of dollar chana was recorded at 400 bags.
Traders here hope some buoyancy in pulses with expected rise in demand in the upcoming festive season.
