The rupee was trading a tad weak at 62.22 against the dollar at 4.15 pm local time on mild dollar demand from banks and importers.
After opening strong by five paise at 62.15 against the US dollar in early trade on selling of the American currency by exporters, the domestic unit hovered in the range of 62.08 and 62.23 in the late afternoon trade.
The rupee had ended 11 paise higher at 62.20 against the dollar in the previous session on Friday at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on the back of selling of the US currency by banks and exporters.
According to the government data issued on Friday, trade deficit narrowed to $8.32 billion in January against $9.45 billion in the year-ago period.
