Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices plunged by Rs 452 to Rs 37,065 per kg at the futures trade today, as participants trimmed their exposure.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March lost Rs 452 or 1.2 per cent to Rs 37,065 per kg in a business turnover of 662 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month May was trading lower by Rs 342 or 0.9 per cent at Rs 37,590 per kg in a business volume of 715 lots.

In the international market, silver slumped 0.91 per cent to $15.28 an ounce in Singapore today.

Marketmen said the fall in silver prices at the futures trade was largely attributed to a weak trend in precious metals in global markets.
