Seven blue-chip firms add Rs 34,875 cr in market-cap; TCS on top

Helped by a smart surge in the market value of IT major TCS, seven Sensex companies added a combined Rs 34,875 crore in market capitalisation last week.

Reliance Industries, Coal India, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and HDFC also gained in market value, while ONGC, ITC and Hindustan Unilever suffered losses.

TCS continued to head the top-10 list, followed by Reliance, ITC, ONGC, Coal India, Infosys, HDFC Bank, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti and HDFC.

The market value of TCS jumped Rs 16,763 crore to Rs 3,97,863 crore, emerging as the top gainer among the top-10 Sensex companies.

HDFC Bank’s m-cap soared Rs 7,436 crore to Rs 1,53,187 crore, while Reliance added Rs 4,273 crore to Rs 2,75,703 crore. Mortgage lender HDFC’s value gained Rs 2,800 crore to Rs 1,24,441 crore, while the m-cap of Coal India went up by Rs 1,864 crore to Rs 1,95,807 crore.

Bharti’s valuation shot up by Rs 1,219 crore to Rs 1,31,174 crore and Infosys added Rs 520 crore to Rs 1,73,158 crore.

ONGC’s value plunged by Rs 8,256 crore to Rs 2,26,592 crore, while ITC lost Rs 6,845 crore to Rs 2,69,358 crore and Hindustan Unilever’s m-cap dipped by Rs 2,765 crore to Rs 1,31,495 crore.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex rose 188.68 points, or 0.96 per cent, to end the week at 19,915.95.
